Product Roadmap

QRlumo launched as a focused dynamic QR management platform. This page describes where we are, what we're building next, and where we're going long-term.

Positioning

QRlumo is not a QR code generator. It is a dynamic QR management platform for marketing teams and operations.

The distinction matters. Generators make a code once. QRlumo manages a fleet of codes over their lifetime — updating destinations, tracking scans, enforcing governance, and connecting to your systems.

One-sentence brief:

For teams who print at scale, QRlumo is the platform that turns every QR code on every physical surface into a live, measurable, updatable channel.

Who this is for:

  • Marketing teams running print campaigns (events, packaging, signage, menus)
  • Agencies managing QR codes across multiple clients or brands
  • Operations teams who need audit trails, team permissions, and bulk management
  • Developers who want to automate QR code creation and scan data in their own systems

Who this is not for:

  • Someone who needs a single QR code for a personal use case
  • Teams where "update without reprint" is not a meaningful concern

Phase 1 — Foundation (current)

Goal: A working, monetized SaaS that validates the core loop — create → print → scan → update → measure.

What's built:

  • Static and dynamic QR code creation
  • Short-link redirect layer (qrlu.mo/r/...) with < 100ms resolution
  • Destination updates that take effect immediately
  • Scan event recording: timestamp, device, country, referrer
  • Analytics dashboard: daily trend, country breakdown, device breakdown
  • Workspace and project structure (team management)
  • Role-based access: Owner, Admin, Member, Viewer
  • API keys with read/write scope
  • REST API v1: create, list, update, delete codes; get stats; raw events
  • Webhooks: qrcode.scanned, qrcode.created, qrcode.updated, qrcode.deleted
  • Billing: Free / Pro / Team / Business plans via Stripe

Current focus:

  1. Reliability — The redirect layer must be fast and available. This is the only part of QRlumo that runs at the moment of a physical scan. It cannot fail.
  2. Trust — Scan data must be accurate. The entire value proposition rests on it.
  3. Acquisition — SEO and organic content. The QR code keyword cluster has strong commercial intent. 50 target pages, starting with the highest-volume terms.
  4. First paying customers — Validate that users will pay for Pro ($12/mo) for the core "update without reprint" value.

Phase 2 — Conversion features (next 30–60 days)

Goal: Give Pro and Team users features that justify the upgrade. Improve the product's value density.

Planned:

  • A/B routing — Split traffic across multiple destinations by percentage. Useful for landing page tests on printed materials.
  • Expiry and scan limits — Set a date or scan count after which a code redirects to a fallback page. Required for time-limited promotions.
  • Password gate — Protect a code's destination behind a PIN. Useful for private documents, early access, or restricted campaigns.
  • Destination history — Full log of every destination change: who changed it, when, and to what. Audit trail for teams.
  • Bulk CSV import — Create or update hundreds of codes at once from a spreadsheet. Required for agencies and operations teams.

Phase 3 — Content hosting (60–90 days)

Goal: Let QRlumo host the destination, not just redirect to it. This expands the platform from a redirect tool to a content platform.

Planned:

  • Mobile landing pages — A simple page builder for creating mobile-optimised landing pages hosted at a QRlumo URL. Templates: digital menu, product page, event info, multi-link hub (Linktree-style).
  • File hosting — Attach a PDF, image, or audio file directly to a code. QRlumo generates a clean preview page for the file and handles the redirect.
  • Custom domains — Attach your own domain to a workspace. Scanned codes resolve through go.yourbrand.com/abc instead of qrlu.mo/r/abc. Included in Business plan.

Phase 4 — Depth and enterprise (90–120 days)

Goal: Add the features that drive high-ACV contracts and reduce churn among power users.

Planned:

  • Retargeting pixels — Allow a workspace to attach Meta Pixel, Google Tag Manager, or TikTok Pixel to codes. When someone scans, the pixel fires before the final redirect. This turns offline scans into retargeting audiences.
  • Deep linking — Smart redirect that detects the user's device and either opens a specific app (via Universal Links / App Links) or falls back to a web URL or app store.
  • Marketing attribution — City-level geolocation, UTM parameter passthrough, referrer breakdowns, and weekly PDF report emails.
  • Folder/tag system — Multi-dimensional organisation for workspaces managing thousands of codes. Tags enable cross-filter analysis ("show me all codes tagged #q4-campaign and #beijing").
  • Zapier / Make.com integration — No-code connections to CRMs, email tools, and marketing automation platforms. Trigger a workflow whenever a code is scanned.

End state vision

QRlumo's long-term goal is to be the standard operating layer for physical-to-digital marketing — the platform that manages everything that happens between a scan and a business outcome.

That means:

  • Every physical surface a team prints can have a managed, measurable QR code
  • Every scan becomes an event in your analytics and automation stack
  • Teams can manage hundreds or thousands of codes without friction — bulk operations, audit logs, role-based access, client isolation
  • Developers can build on QRlumo the way they build on Stripe or Twilio — clean API, predictable pricing, reliable uptime

The entry point is "update your QR code without reprinting." The destination is "full print-to-digital marketing operations."

What we will not build

  • A generic free QR code generator with no account required (that's a different product with different economics)
  • Social features or QR code "sharing"
  • Hardware or NFC (complementary, not core)
  • Unrelated SaaS features bolted on for growth (we will stay focused on the print-to-digital channel)
